What's the best book you've *ever* read, and why?
LeadOn Virtual Book Club
Outsiders - Read it in high school and it stuck with me all these years
Me too! Stay gold Ponyboy. Excellent read.
The Outsiders. I re-read it every few years. It never gets old.
The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George because it has pretty much everything: love story, mystery, travel, wonderful characters, emotional awareness and growth, and it's beautifully written.
My favorite would have to be the Bible. Believe it or not, there is SO much , especially in the book of Proverbs, about how to handle people and situations, as well as loads on self-improvement!
"QB VII" by Leon Uris. I have read most of his books because of this one; but this one stands out. It is the most gripping court case I have ever read.
A close second woud be "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. A wonderful backstory during a wonderful time, and "chrrmingly narrated by Death.
The Phantom Tollbooth. Yes, it is a story for younger readers but it is witty and sparks the imagination.
The Power to Influence People by Dale Carnegie
Gone With the Wind. Beautiful story.
"Natural History of the Senses" by Diane Ackerman. The author is a poet and the prose she writes feels so wonderful in my mouth. I re-read this at least once a year.
The Shell Seekers (or anything else) by Rosamunde Pilcher
or
The Hobbit / Lord of the Rings
Reference - the Bible - lots of advice on handling life and people
Non-fiction - Reader's Digest Back to the Basics - tells you how to live like the pioneers did including how to build a cabin
Fiction - Les Miserables by Victor Hugo - I've read it many many times - the characters are wonderful and the story compelling
"Roots" was an amazing book to read. It was a host of history and human emotions.
Bible. It's the book that has spanned the ages and is relatable to persons from all walks of life.
Good Book!
Not one book stands out. I read a lot, books for work, books for pleasure.
Favorite author: Dean Koontz
Anything Stephen King
To Kill a Mockingbird. It took me 48 years to finally read it, I don't know why I waited for so long. Great story of leadership and standing up for the little guy.
And the Book of Acts!
